BC scores 37 runs over last two games ahead of second ACC series at Pitt
After bringing 17 runs home on Tuesday, the Eagles' offense came back with a 20-run showing on Wednesday in their second straight seven-frame victory via run rule.
Boston College jumped out to a 9-0 lead through two innings. Kyle Wolff (Andover, Mass.) who logged six RBI on Tuesday, started the tally with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly.
Owen DeShazo (Glen Allen, Va.), making his second start in as many days, put the Eagles up by nine in the second with a two-RBI single, his first of three hits on the day. DeShazo finished going 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored.
Entering today tied for the team-lead in home runs, Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) took sole possession of the team lead on Wednesday, blasting two more long-balls as a part of a 4-for-5 effort at the plate with five RBI.
John Collins (New York, N.Y.) got his opportunity as a pinch hitter in the sixth and took full advantage, launching his first home run of the season deep to left field.
Bobby Chicoine returned from a long injury absence and got the start, and turned in a strong inning, striking out two of the four batters he faced in a scoreless first. Brian McMonagle (Moorestown, N.J.) earned his second win of the season for the Eagles (2-0), striking out four over three innings of middle relief.
The Eagles will turn their attention to Pittsburgh for their second ACC series of the year this weekend at Pitt.
