Bill O’Brien leads his first team practice at Boston College.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College football opened the Bill O'Brien era with its first spring practice inside Fish Field House on Monday morning. The session marked the first of 14 practices leading up to the Eagles' annual Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game, scheduled for Saturday, April 13.

O'Brien, who was introduced on Feb. 15 as the 37th head coach in BC history, oversaw his first full-team practice in his new role. The Eagles' coaching staff features five new assistants and a new director of football performance in Craig Fitzgerald, who led the team's flex warm-up.

PRACTICE NOTES

Thomas Castellanos got his first official practice reps with a number of new weapons in the passing game with transfers Treshaun Ward (Kansas State), Kamari Morales (North Carolina), Jerand Bradley (Texas Tech) and Jayden McGowan (Vanderbilt).
On defense, Max Tucker and Khalil Ali supplied highlight-worthy pass break-ups, while linebacker Palaie Faoa (aka "EA") made an interception in the first team period of the spring.
Center Drew Kendall and right tackle Ozzy Trapilo returned to their respective starting positions from 2023. On the left side of the line, tackle Logan Taylor got the majority of his snaps at guard.

ROSTER NOTES

The spring roster consists of 94 players, including 12 newcomers. BC welcomes 10 transfers and two early enrollees in freshmen offensive linemen Jordan Lafontant and Pape Sy.
BC brought in 10 transfers with six on offense, three on defense and one on special teams.
Graduate wide receiver Jay Brunelle changed his uniform number from 32 to 85. Quarterback Peter Delaportas changed his uniform number from 29 to 18.
