Softball opens spring break on the road against Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-- The Boston College softball team will begin Spring Break with ACC play on the road against UVA in Charlottesville, Va., on March 1st for a three-game series.
Boston College and Virginia have met 40 times on the diamond with BC leading the series, 21-19. All meetings have come since the Eagles joined the ACC in 2006. In the Eagles' last visit to Charlottesville, BC took one of four games, with a 3-1 win in the third match of the series.Â

- Head Coach Joanna Hardin enters her eighth season as the head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers.Â

- Virginia pitcher Madison Harris leads the ACC with an ERA of .36 on three starts and 1 save. She has allowed one run on nine hits. She holds a 4-0 record with 19.2 innings pitched.Â
- Halie Pappion and Abby Dunning both dominate the ACC standings in the top 10 of pitching stats. In 37.1 Innings pitched Pappion has a 1.13 ERA, while Dunning with 48 innings pitched, the most in the ACC, has an ERA of 1.31. Pappion has allowed less than eight runs on the season , while Dunning leads the ACC in complete games.  Â
- Boston College is currently ranked second in the ACC in pitching statistics. With all pitchers on the roster making a debut on the mound the staff has a 1.58 ERA on 102 innings pitched.Â
- Junior catcher and first baseman Hannah Slike leads the conference in putouts with 96 on 103 chances. Slike is one of 26 athletes with a 1.00 fielding percentage. Slike is also one of the top hitters for Boston College with a .333 hitting percentage, and is placed within the ACC top 30 with 16 hits on the season, and the conference's top 25 in home runs with two on the season.
