Comeback Effort Falls Short as UT Arlington Takes Game One

Cameron Leary went 3-for-4 with two HR and four RBI in the loss
ARLINGTON, Tx. — Boston College Baseball (2-2, 0-0) dropped game one of the weekend series, 11-6 to UT Arlington (3-3, 0-0) on Friday night.
The Mavericks took an 11-0 lead into the seventh inning, when Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.) got the Eagles on the board with his first home-run of the season. Leary did the same his next at-bat, clubbing his second long ball of the year as a part of a 3-for-4, four-RBI effort at the plate, and added to a five-run BC rally in the eighth inning.
Adam Magpoc (Torrance, Ca.), who took over in center field in the eighth, went 2-for-2 with a run scored, and reached in the ninth before Collin Horton closed the door for UT. Kyle Wolff (Andover, Mass.) added two RBI during the eighth-inning rally.
John West (Shrewsbury, Mass.) made his second start of the year and was issued the loss, going four innings, striking out three with three earned runs. Zach Norris started for the Mavericks and earned the win after throwing seven one-run innings with thirteen strikeouts.
The Eagles will go back to work for game two at 3:00 ET on Saturday.
