Doyle Earns Bronze as Seven Eagles Compete at U.S. Open Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Jack Doyle earned a bronze medal, while six other members of the Boston College Swimming & Diving team competed at the 2024 U.S. Open Championships over the weekend of Dec. 5-7 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.Â
Jack Doyle was the lone Eagle to medal in the U.S. Open Championships meet, earning third place in the Men's 200 yard IM on Thursday night. Doyle also competed in the "A" Final of the Men's 400 IM, placing fifth overall.Â
The Eagles had a total of nine finals appearances over the span of the three days in Greensboro.Â

Up next: The Eagles will head to semester break, and will return to action the weekend of Jan. 17-18 as they take on Boston University in a dual meet.Â

Jack Doyle was the lone Eagle to medal in the U.S. Open Championships meet, earning third place in the Men's 200 yard IM on Thursday night. Doyle also competed in the "A" Final of the Men's 400 IM, placing fifth overall.Â
The Eagles had a total of nine finals appearances over the span of the three days in Greensboro.Â

- Jack Doyle clinched a spot in the "A" Final of the Men's 200 yard IM after placing eighth overall in the morning prelims session with a time of 1:47.92.
- Doyle followed up the morning session with a great swim, earning a bronze medal in the Men's 200 yard IM "A" Final with a time of 1:45.51.
- Ben Huffman placed 24th overall in the Men's 500 yard freestyle prelims, earning a spot in the "C" Final with a time of 4:32.39.
- Huffman swam to a fifth place finish in the "C" Final with a time of 4:31.21, ultimately placing 21st overall out of 24 swimmers who competed in the 500 yard freestyle finals on Thursday night.
- Lauren Lee competed in the Women's 50 yard freestyle, finishing 32nd overall with a time of 23.72.Â
- Jack Doyle earned fourth place in the Men's 400 yard IM prelims, which clinched him a spot in the "A" Final on Friday night.
- Doyle finished fifth overall in the "A" final with a time of 3:50.49.Â
- Peter Nolan finished 33rd overall in the Men's 200 yard freestyle prelims with a time of 1:39.90.
- Doyle placed 30th overall in the Men's 100 yard breaststroke prelims with a time of 55.74, while Aiden Bucaria placed 41st and finished with a time of 56.21.Â
- Samantha Smith placed 19th overall in the Women's 100 yard backstroke, earning a place in the "C" Final.Â
- Smith finished third in the "C" final with a time of 55.25.Â
- Ben Huffman competed in the Men's 1650 yard freestyle "A" Final, finishing 19th with a time of 15:48.18.
- Jack Doyle finished fourth overall in the Men's 200 yard butterfly "A" Final with a time of 1:46.08.
- Lauren Lee competed in the "B" Final of the Women's 100 yard freestyle, touching the wall at 50.60 which was good for fifth place.Â
- Samantha Smith came in at first place in the Women's 200 yard backstroke "C" Final with a time of 1:58.80.
- Aiden Bucaria finished with a time of 2:01.83 , which was good for fourth place in the Men's 200 yard breaststroke "C" Final.
