Eagles Drop ACC Home Opener to SMU

Homestand continues next Saturday vs. FDU
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College fell to SMU, 103-77 on Saturday afternoon at Conte Forum. The Eagles dropped to 7-5 overall and 4-3 at home.
FIRST HALF
• Dion Brown opened his day with a triple over tight coverage.
• Jayden Hastings earned his first career start and reached the scoring column early on at the free throw line.
• After a strong SMU start, an Eagles run helped grow the BC lead to eight, leading 21-13 with 13:04 left in the first half.
• Elijah Strong finished a tough and-one to help bolster the Eagles' run.
• Brown and Donald Hand Jr. paced the first half, leading the team with 11 points each at the break.
• Hand shot 4-for-7 and Brown shot 3-for-5, each going 2-for-2 from three.
• Chas Kelley III hit his second field goal of the day to cut the deficit to 7 at the half.
SECOND HALF
• Dion Brown hit his third triple of the day to give him a team-high 14 points early in the period
• The Eagles hit on four of five field goals to cut the deficit to 60-57 with 14:46 to go, forcing an SMU timeout.
• The Mustangs went 22-of-32 in the second half, outscoring BC 56-37 over the final 20 minutes.
