Eagles Survive Stonehill’s Second Half Rally

BC hosts SMU on Saturday at noon in the home ACC opener
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College survived a second-half rally by Stonehill - 73-69 - on Sunday afternoon at Conte Forum. The Eagles advanced to 7-4 overall and 4-2 at home. With today's victory, BC remained undefeated 17-0 in the all-time series versus the Skyhawks. Chad Venning led the Eagles in scoring for the fourth time this season, finishing with 13 points. Donald Hand Jr. and Chas Kelley III each chipped in with 12 points.

FIRST HALF
- Hand entered the scoring column first with a mid-range jumper.
- Jayden Hastings made an immediate impact off the bench, forcing a turnover and finishing a put-back dunk on the other end. BC trailed 10-8 with 13:42 left in the half.
- The Eagles found a rhythm on offense midway through the half. At the 12:36 mark, Kelley capped off a 7-0 run with a three-pointer. BC nabbed its first lead, 13-10.
- With six minutes until halftime, Kelley and Roger McFarlane knocked down back-to-back triples to regain the lead. The Eagles drained seven consecutive shots before the last media timeout.

- BC tallied three quick baskets to start the half. The lead surged to double digits, 41-30.
- The Eagles continued to attack on offense, shooting above 70% through the first ten minutes of second half action.
- Stonehill rallied in the final minutes, spurred by four consecutive three-pointers. The Eagles' lead dwindled to four - 69-65 - with 1:38 to play.
- Ahead by two with five seconds remaining, Elijah Strong stepped to the free throw line and iced the game.
- The Eagles never surrendered the lead in the second half.
NOTABLES
- Three players finished in double figures for the Eagles: Venning (13), Hand (12) and Kelley (12).
- BC out-rebounded Stonehill by eight (36-24). McFarlane hauled in a team-high six boards.
- Hand was perfect from the foul line, making all six attempts.
- BC moved to 39-5 against members of the Northeast Conference. The Eagles extended their win streak against NEC opponents to 13 games.
- BC played its first of two matchups versus NEC opponents this season. The Eagles host Fairleigh Dickinson at Conte Forum on Saturday, Dec. 28.
