BC running backs coach chosen to participate in organization's leadership institute.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College football running backs coach Savon Huggins has been named a 35 Under 35 participant by the AFCA. Huggins, who is in his third year as the running backs coach at BC, was announced as one of the organization's 35 selections out of over 200 applicants to take part in the 2025 AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute.
A year ago, BC running backs rushed for over 2,500 yards as the BC offense had the second-best rushing attack in the ACC. This season, the Eagles remain in the top half of the league with Kye Robichaux, who transferred to BC ahead of the 2023 season, leading the way for the second year in a row. In two seasons working with Huggins, Robichaux has totaled 1,506 yards and 18 touchdowns, while averaging 4.7 yards per carry. Huggins has attracted talent to BC and helped develop the Eagles run-game in his time on the Heights. In the last three years, he has had a hand in recruiting three transfers to BC at the running back position and signing three others that have all made significant contributions to the Boston College offense.
The AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute is a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession. Selected participants are invited to attend the one-day institute that features a curriculum of interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression, and family balance.
