Eagles Drop Four Set Match to Clemson

Eagles fall in final home match of the season by scores of 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, and 23-25
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Boston College Volleyball team dropped a close four set match to Clemson by scores of, 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, and 23-25.
Over the four set match three Eagles were in double digit kills, Halle Schroder added 14, Audrey Ross tallied 12, and Anna Herrington contributed 10. Jenna Pollock was shortly behind with six on a .417 hitting percentage. Julia Haggerty led the Eagles with four blocks while Brooklyn Yelland led the afternoon with 16 digs. Sophia Lambros contributed a season high four aces, while Aubrey Moore guided the offense adding a career high 31 assists.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: The first set opened on an early 5-2 Clemson lead. The Tigers went on to claim three of the next four points forcing the Eagles first timeout of the set. BC gained momentum off of a Ross and Cornelia Roach block followed by a kill by Pollock, 9-6. Clemson answered, securing four of the next five points. The Eagles were able to counter on a three point run, returning back to a three point set. Clemson made a move of its own adding five of the next seven to open their lead to six. The Eagles were unable to close the margin, dropping the first set, 25-22.
SET 2: The second set opened evenly matched, until a 7-0 Eagle run. The run kicked off with Moore on the service line, she added an ace, while Ross added a kill, Haggerty and Herrington added a block, and three Tiger errors, provided a five point BC advantage 12-7. The Tigers were not able to overcome the deficit, only to come within four on a three point run, 18-22. The Eagles closed out the set claiming three of the last four points, 25-19. Herrington added five kills in the second on a .556 hitting percentage.
SET 3: The Eagles opened the third fast, forcing a Tiger timeout early after aces by Moore and Ross, 5-2. BC continued to add to the board contributing six of the next eight points, Ross added two, while Lambros and Yelland both added aces, 11-4. Clemson responded on its own run, adding six straight, 11-10. The Eagles added two quick points to take a three point lead. Both teams continued to fight trading off points, with Clemson's Katherine Sandt on the service line the Tigers went on a 5-0 run, interrupted by a Schroder kill, only for Clemson to add two more forcing a BC timeout, 21-17. Coming out of the timeout Sophia Lambros added three straight aces, to lock up the score at 21. Both teams went back and forth, locking the score once more, for the Tigers to add the final two points to take the set, 25-23.  Â
SET 4: BC opened the fourth similar to the third, jumping out to a 6-3 lead. Clemson worked its way back within one until a five point run by the Eagles spread the margin to six, 14-8. Clemson answered on its own four point run forcing BC to use its first timeout, 14-12. The Eagles added three quick to open the margin to five, forcing a Tiger timeout. Clemson was able to get within one on a string of runs, 20-19. Clemson gained a late lead on two straight kills, 23-22, forcing the Eagles to take its final timeout. Schroder added one out of the timeout to tie up the set, but a kill and ace by the Tigers closed out the match, 25-23.Â
