Eagles Fall to Northeastern on Saturday

BOSTON – The third-ranked Boston College men's hockey team fell to Northeastern by a score of 4-2 on Saturday evening in Hockey East action at Matthews Arena.
BC drops to 9-3-0 overall and 4-2-0 in Hockey East, while Northeastern moves to 2-6-3 overall and 1-4-3 in league play.
The Huskies opened the scoring midway through the second period, scoring two goals within two minutes of each other to take a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles responded minutes later when Oskar Jellvik (Täby, Sweden) scored off a rebound from a saved shot by Andre Gasseau (Garden Grove, Calif.). Northeastern answered just 30 seconds later to score its third of the period, pushing its lead back to two.
Ryan Leonard (Amherst, Mass.) brought the Eagles back within one late in the third period, following up from close range after shots by both Mike Posma (Pomona, Calif.) and Lukas Gustafsson (Atlanta, Ga.) were saved by Northeastern goaltender Cameron Whitehead. The Huskies added an empty net goal in the final few seconds of regulation.
Jacob Fowler (Melbourne, Fla.) made 25 saves between the pipes while Whitehead stopped 30 shots for Northeastern.
