
Women's Basketball Earns Home Win Against New Hampshire

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball stayed unbeaten at home with an 80-45 victory over New Hampshire on Wednesday evening in Conte Forum.Â
The Eagles move to 5-1 on the season, while the Wildcats drop to 4-2.Â
Dontavia Waggoner led the Eagles with a game-high 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field with four rebounds and three steals. Andrea Daley was the lone other Eagle with 12 points and five off the glass. It was a balanced scoring effort as 11 of 12 players who action scored.
Kaylah Ivey dished out a game-high 12 assists, tying a personal mark in 20 minutes of playing time with zero turnovers. Tatum Greene led the way on the glass with a career-high seven rebounds.Â
The stingy Eagles' defense limited UNH to just 33 percent shooting in the opening quarter and hit three of their seven shots outside the arc. An 11-4 run highlighted by the three trifectas pushed the lead to 17-8. UNH scored at the end of the quarter, giving BC a 17-10 run.Â
A 6-of-7 stretch with under seven minutes left in the second period gave BC a 32-18 lead Savannah Samuel and Daley combined for nine points during the surge that gave the hosts a commanding lead going into the half. The Eagles held UNH to just eight points in the period.Â
BC cruised to the victory in the second half, outscoring the visitors 26-11 in the third, and later held the lead by as much as 38 points late in the fourth. It's the fourth victory this season by 30 or more points.Â
The Eagles forced 22 turnovers for 22 points and scored 46 points in the paint. BC saw 40 points from its reserves, with Athena Tomlinson and JaKayla Thompson netting career highs in points with nine. It was a balanced scoring effort as 11 of 12 players who action scored.
The Eagles begin a five-game road trip on Saturday when they travel to Worcester for a 2 p.m. tip against Holy Cross.Â
