
Eagles Top Crusaders in Convincing Fashion

WORCESTER, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball soared past Holy Cross with a convincing 81-55 win against Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center.Â
The Eagles earn their first road win, improving to 6-1, while the Crusaders drop to 3-3.Â
Teya Sidberry scored a game-high 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field with four boards. Dontavia Waggoner hit six of her nine attempts en route to 15 points with four off the glass.Â
Athena Tomlinson scored a career-high 10 points off the bench, hitting four shots (two 3-pointers) and dished out three assists. Andrea Daley rounded out the leading scorers with 10 as well.Â
Tatum Greene and Kennedi Jackson led the team with five rebounds, and Kaylah Ivey dished out four assists.
All it took was a 17-2 outburst in the first 4:45 of the contest to give the Eagles a commanding lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game. BC forced seven turnovers during the surge, while Tomlinson capped off the run with a trifecta.
The Eagles stayed in control despite cutting the lead to seven at the end of the quarter, 19-12. BC stretched its lead to as much as 19 late in the first half before a Holy Cross layup gave the visitors a 38-21 advantage at the break. Sidberry scored 13 of her points in the half while Waggoner netted nine, as the duo combined for 22 points in the first stanza.Â
Boston College kept its foot on the gas in the second half, growing its lead to 22 late in the third frame.
Holy Cross sliced the gap to 14 early in the third, but the Eagles pulled away to capture a fifth straight win in the series.Â
BC shot a season-high 54.2 percent from the field and went 7-of-14 from 3-point land. BC saw 26 points from its reserves and scored 37 points in the paint.Â
The Eagles continue their road trip on Monday when they face No. 17/20 Ole Miss at 5 p.m. in the opening round game of the Baha Mar Championship at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center.
