Hand’s Second Half Surge Downs Loyola at Conte Forum

BC hauled in 22 offensive rebounds, the most in a game since Dec. 6, 2009
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College topped Loyola (Md.) - 82-61 - on Tuesday night at Conte Forum. With the victory, the Eagles advanced to 3-0 at home and 3-1 overall. Chad Venning led the way for the Eagles with 17 points. Donald Hand Jr. registered his second double-double through four games, finishing with 15 points (all in the second half) and a career-high 14 rebounds.

- After allowing the first basket of the game, BC seized an early lead with an 8-0 run.
- Chas Kelley III and Elijah Strong each drained a three-pointer in the first two minutes.
- The Eagles gained a double-digit lead - 26-16 - with a Dion Brown three-ball at the 7:21 mark.
- BC held Loyola (Md.) scoreless for over four minutes of action. The Greyhounds ended the drought with 5:29 remaining in the half.

- With just under 13 minutes remaining, Loyola (Md.) cut the deficit to five. Boston College answered with a 7-0 surge, capped off by an acrobatic layup by Roger McFarlane.
- Hand continued his hot streak from beyond the arc, sticking a three-pointer at the 8:36 mark to give the Eagles a 13-point lead (65-52).
- The Eagles maintained a double-digit advantage through the final buzzer. Loyola (Md.) missed its final seven shots.
