Women's Basketball Downs Providence in Sunday Matinee

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball bounced back with a 67-60 triumph over Providence on Sunday afternoon in Conte Forum.Â
The Eagles stay unbeaten at home and improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Friars are 2-2.Â
Teya Sidberry put forth her best outing of the season, scoring a game and season-high 20 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting with five rebounds and one steal. Dontavia Waggoner netted 16 points with six off the glass and a game-best four steals. The duo of Sidberry and Waggoner combined to shoot 13-of-22 from the floor with 11 rebounds and five steals.Â
T'yana Todd chipped in with 11 points, while Andrea Daley recorded nine rebounds with eight points. Kaylah Ivey dished out eight assists.Â
BC's offense shot under 40 percent from the field but forced the Friars into 26 turnovers and 35 percent shooting from the field.Â
The Eagles held an early 11-2 advantage after hitting four straight shots at one point in the opening period. Kennedi Jackson hit a 3-pointer late in the quarter before Providence hit three at the line to give BC an 18-12 edge going into the second.Â
An 8-0 run in the second stretched a five-point lead to 13 thanks to Todd and Sidberry scoring all eight points, giving the hosts a 37-24 lead. Brynn Farrell for the Friars hit a three at the end of the half to cut the deficit to 10.Â
Boston College built a 17-point lead at the end of the quarter and stayed in control the rest of the way. Despite Providence slicing the lead to single digits, Sidberry iced the game at the free throw line.Â
BC shot 13-of-16 from the line and assisted on 16 of 23 baskets.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday against New Hampshire at 6 p.m. in Conte Forum.Â
