Eagles Best Orange 1-0 in Regular Season Finale Thriller

BC finishes the season 12-5, with a 6-2 record in ACC play
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - No. 9 Boston College field hockey (12-5, 6-2 ACC) defeated the No. 12 Orange of Syracuse (12-5, 4-4 ACC) by a score of 1-0 on Friday afternoon.Â
In the first quarter, the Orange pressed the Eagles early, getting two shots on goal, but Charlotte Kramer made a pair of saves to keep it 0-0. Late in the quarter, BC had two shots on goal as well, but both were thwarted by Louise Pert.
In the second quarter, Madelief Grandjean found the back of the net on a penalty corner, but it was disallowed by the officials, therefore both teams entered the half scoreless. Both teams would trade shots in the third, but entering the fourth quarter, the score remained 0-0.
After the Orange were awarded four penalty corners in the span of a minute, with 1:07 remaining in the game, Madelieve Drion tipped in a rebounded shot from Peyton Hale on a penalty corner, giving the Eagles the 1-0 win. This is the Eagles' first win on the road vs. Syracuse since 2014, and their first victory over the Orange since 2020.
Up next: The Eagles will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. next week for the ACC Championships. All games will be streamed live on the ACC Network. With today's victory, the Eagles will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
