Eagles Host No.1 Pitt and No.17 SMU in ACC Home Opener

BC returns home for ACC home opener after a month long road stretch
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Boston College volleyball team, (7-7, 0-2 ACC) continues ACC play at home to take on Pitt (12-0, 2-0 ACC) on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. and SMU (10-3, 2-0 ACC) on Sunday Oct. 6 at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be featured on the ACC Network Extra.Â
The Eagles opened up conference play on the road facing Duke and UNC. Boston College fell in five sets to Duke, then battled in four to UNC on Sunday. Halle Schroder led the Eagles over the two games tallying 34 kills and 29 digs. Julia Haggerty led the defense adding 19 blocks, while Morgan Riddle led the back row with 33 digs.Â
The Eagles meet No. 1 Pitt to open conference play at home after last meeting the Panthers in a three set loss on the road last season. This meeting marks the teams 34th all-time meeting between the teams. Â
On Sunday, the Eagles prepare for its first all-time meeting with No. 17 SMU. The Mustangs are one of three new additions to the Atlantic Coast Conference this year. SMU kicked off ACC play last weekend facing No. 13 Georgia Tech and Clemson defeating both competitors in three sets.Â
Following the ACC home opening weekend the Eagles travel to California to meet Cal (Fri. Oct. 11, 10:00 p.m.) and Stanford (Sat. Oct. 12, 10:00 p.m.) for the first all-time meeting between the teams.
