Eagles Best Friars In Shootout

Kara Goulding scored the gamewinning goal to seal the victory
Providence, R.I. – The Boston College Eagles and the Providence Friars skated to a tie on Friday night. The Eagles walked with the shootout victory, earning the Hockey East extra point.
The two sides were deadlocked in the first period. Neither team could find the back of the net. In the second period, the Eagles were able to get on the board first. Molly Jordan slid one past the Friars 13 minutes into the period. Providence returned the goal with under a minute left in the period on a power play attempt.
In the third period, the Friars had a goal called off for offsides, leaving the game tied at one apiece with 12 minutes left to play. Neither side could break the tie, forcing the game to overtime. Neither side could capitalize during the extra five minutes, sending the game to a shootout to decide who gets the Hockey East extra point.
Kara Goulding sealed the shootout victory for the Eagles. Behind Goulding's goal, Grace Campbell was a perfect three for three in the shootout.

GAME NOTES
- With the shootout victory, the Eagles officially claim the season series against the Friars.
- Julia Pellerin led the Eagles with a team-high 10 shots on goal.
- Cailin Flynn led the game in blocks today with five. Kerri Clougherty contributed four blocked shots ... the team was able to get in front of 26 shots today.
- Providence had 80 shots tonight, with 40 of those landing on goal. Boston College had 45 shots, with 31 of those landing on goal.
- Grace Campbell was in the net for the Eagles. She had 36 saves on the night.
