
Belle Smith, Sydney Scales and Ryan Smith Named Captains for 2024

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse has announced that Belle Smith, Ryan Smith, and Sydney Scales will be the captains for the 2024 season.Â
The trio of Eagles played a pivotal role in their success over the last four seasons, capturing a national title in 2021, a pair of ACC regular-season titles, and the program's first ACC championship last season.Â
R. Smith is coming off the best season of her career, as she finished second with a career-high 90 draw controls, which was also tied for the 10th most in a single season. She scored a personal-best nine goals with one assist for 10 points. The midfielder had multiple draw controls in 17 games and scored a goal in five straight contests.Â
B. Smith was a consensus first-team All-American after finishing with 52 goals, 31 assists, and 83 points. She earned the ACC Midfielder Player of the Year honors for her stellar season, while she was a Top-25 Tewaaraton finalist. Smith was recently named the USA Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year.Â
Scales also had a stellar season in 2024, as she was named the ACC Defender of the Year. The Walpole, Mass., native was the only player in the ACC with at least 40 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers. Scales was first on the team with a career-high 37 CTs and 41 ground balls. She recently landed on the USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American list.Â
The Eagles open up play on Feb. 9 against UMass at 4 p.m. in Fish Field House.Â
