
Boston College Welcomes Merrimack in Season Opener

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's tennis team commences their spring season tomorrow afternoon, hosting Merrimack at the Weymouth Tennis Center in Weymouth, Mass. Action will begin at 3:00 p.m.
FALL IN REVIEW
Junior Jake Vassel led the charge in singles competition during the fall for the Eagles, finishing with a 6-2 record. Mai Gao began his sophomore campaign with a 5-3 singles record, while Will Kasten and Juan Jose Bianchi each posted 4-3 records in solo competition. Newcomers Matthew Overvelde (3-2), Davis McDonald (3-2), and Andrew Solarewicz (2-2) produced solid starts to their careers at Boston College.
DYNAMIC DUO
The doubles team of Juan Jose Bianchi and Jake Vassel rose to #17 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings at the end of the fall season, posting an impressive 10-2 doubles record. Bianchi and Vassel claimed the highest doubles ranking in program history. The duo claimed victories against top-tier opponents Alabama, Oklahoma State, and Princeton during the fall season. Vassel and Bianchi advanced to the Final Four of the ITA Super Regionals doubles draw and the quarterfinals of the ITA Fall National Doubles Championship to start their 2023-24 campaign.
LAST TIME OUT
Boston College's last meeting with Merrimack took place last year on Apr. 11, resulting in a 6-1 victory for the Eagles. BC went 2-1 in doubles competition and 5-1 in singles action, with Bianchi and Connor McDonald winning in straight sets.
