Eagles Fall Short to No. 4/3 North Carolina

Quinten Post finished with a double-double for the Eagles
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College fell to No. 4/3 North Carolina, 76-66, on Saturday afternoon at Conte Forum in the 29th meeting all-time between the two programs. The Eagles moved to 11-7 on the season and 2-5 in ACC play. Quinten Post led the way for the Eagles with a double-double, finishing with a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Prince Aligbe chipped in with 14 points and six boards.Â

- Devin McGlockton finished strong in the paint on back-to-back possessions to put BC on the board first.
- At the 15:38 mark, Quinten Post fired from the top of the key and drained the first three-pointer of the game. BC gained an early 9-5 lead.
- After opening the game 6-10 from the field, the Eagles missed eight consecutive shot attempts during the drought. Post ended the drought with a mid-range jumper at the 7:32 mark. BC led 18-17.
- Heading into the final minute of the half, BC completed a 6-0 run and held a one-point advantage, 31-30.Â
- The Tar Heels led 34-31 at halftime.
- Post (12 points) and North Carolina's R.J. Davis (11 points) each notched double figures in the first half.Â
- Boston College shot 10-28 (35.7%) from the field, 2-8 (25.0%) from three-point range and 9-11 (81.8%) from the free throw line in the first half.
- North Carolina shot 12-23 (52.2%) from the field, 3-10 (30.0%) from three-point range and 7-11 (63.6%) from the free throw line in the first half.Â
- The Tar Heels extended their lead to nine within the first two minutes of the half.
- Both teams shot below 30% from the field in the first nine minutes. The Tar Heels led 50-42 with 11 minutes remaining.Â
- With 6:58 remaining, Claudell Harris Jr. drew contact and converted a timely three-point play. The Eagles narrowed the gap to five, trailing 56-51.
- Despite BC's efforts to cut into the deficit, the Tar Heels maintained at least a two-possession cushion heading into the game's final minutes.Â
- Mason Madsen finished an and-one with three minutes left. The Tar Heels led by five, 68-63.
- North Carolina used a timeout with 2:01 remaining in the action, leading 72-64.Â
- Boston College shot 9-27 (33.3%) from the field, 1-9 (11.1%) from three-point range and 16-18 (88.9%) from the free throw line in the second half.
- North Carolina shot 13-33 (39.4%) from the field, 2-7 (28.6%) from three-point range and 14-15 (93.3%) from the free throw line in the second half.

- Post (19) and Aligbe (14) each finished in double figures for the Eagles. The Tar Heels finished with four players in double figures.Â
- The Tar Heels hauled in 15 more rebounds, with a margin of 43-28.Â

- Today's game marked the 29th meeting between the two schools.
- Boston College is 6-23 all-time vs. UNC, dating back to 1966-67. In ACC regular season play, BC is 5-20 against North Carolina

- This marks the 105th time BC has faced a top five-ranked UNC team
