Hijdra, Carlin, Giacchino, and Garber Hit the Scoring Column for BC
BOSTON – No. 16 Boston College (3-2, 0-0) got back into the win column tonight against Boston University, securing a 4-0 victory in the latest edition of the Battle of Comm Ave.
Graduate student Margo Carlin reached a career milestone, tallying her 100th career point with a goal and assist to lead the Eagles over the Terriers. The captain set up Juliette Hijdra on a penalty corner to find the first score of the contest. Carlin would go on to score her second goal of the season to secure the century mark in points, deflecting a set up by Simone Hefting into the back of the net. Sophomore Martina Giacchino ended the half with BC's third score of the night, scoring off a centering pass from Kendall Hanlon. Mia Garber capped off a strong offensive night for the Eagles, netting a redirect from Peyton Hale to give Boston College a four-point cushion.
BC also continued their impressive display of defense, holding BU to only six shots in total. Caroline Kelly tallied four saves on five shots faced in 45 minutes of action. Emily Gillespie subbed in at net for the final 15 minutes of action, saving the only shot she faced.
The Eagles are back in action on Sunday to take on the Northeastern Huskies at Noon in Dedham, Mass. Action will be streamed live on FloSports.
