BC looks to build on 4-0 victory last Friday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The no. 14 Eagles (3-2, 0-0) travel to Virginia this weekend, taking on the no. 6 Cavaliers (5-1, 0-0) on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and the Dukes (2-4) on Sunday at noon. BC's matchup against UVA will be the first taste of ACC action this season.
TALE OF THE TAPE
Virginia enters Friday's matchup on a four-game win streak, posting a 15-2 composite score in that span. With Boston College ranking third nationally in scoring defense (0.58) and surrendering only three goals in their first five games, this contest gives every indication that a defensive battle could be looming. Last season, the Eagles emerged victorious against the Cavaliers in a 2-1 win in Newton, Mass. Martina Giacchino and Victoria Arra found the back of the net to help BC claim the win.
JMU is looking to bounce back from losses in their last three games to Temple, App State, and no. 16 Wake Forest. This Sunday's matinee will be the first time the Eagles have crossed paths with the Dukes since 2012, where JMU took a 2-1 victory in double overtime.
PROTECTING THE NET
Graduate Student Caroline Kelly heads into this weekend ranking second in the nation in save percentage (0.850) and third in goals against average (0.61). These marks currently place her at first amongst all ACC goalkeepers. Kelly also leads the conference in saves per game at 3.40, with the third-most total saves at 17.
BC's matchup against Virginia will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra. Sunday's contest against JMU can be found on ESPN+.
