Three BC golfers finish in the top 12 in the season-opening tournament
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Boston College opened the 2023 fall slate with a victory at the Nittany Lion Invitational, held at Penn State Golf Course's Blue course. The Eagles finished at 13-over par for the 54-hole tournament, posting team scores of 289 in both the first and second rounds of play before closing out play with a 299 on Sunday.
Emily Bohrer - in her first appearance for Boston College - led the way, tying for third place. She posted scores of 69-72-74 in the three rounds of play, finishing with a score of 215 - five shots off the leader.
Angel Lin - returning to the lineup after missing much of 2022-23 due to injury - finished in eighth place. She carded consecutive par scores of 72 during Saturday's first and second rounds, before closing with a 76. Cynthia Zhang tied for 12th place. After an opening round 78, the sophomore played her final 36 holes at 1-over par. Stephany Kim tied for 18th (74-73-79), while Canice Screene tied for 30th (74-79-76).
As a team, BC led the field in par 4 scoring (4.17 avg), was second in par 3 scoring (3.15), and third on par 5's (4.97). Bohrer played par 5's at 5-under for the weekend (4.58 avg) and was tied for the second-most birdies in the tournament (10). Lin carded a team-best 37 pars - good for fourth among the field.
BC returns to action next week - Sept. 25-26 - hosting the Red Bandanna Invitational at Blue Hills C.C. in Canton.
