Eagles Sweep Skyhawks in Three

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass- Boston College swept past Stonehill College, 3-0 at home in the first match of the double-header. The Eagles improved to 10-3, while the Skyhawks dropped to 0-14. BC won in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-16.
Set one started fast for the Eagles with back-to-back service aces by senior Alayna Crabtree. Crabtree added three kills in set one for it to be closed on a senior Grace Penn ace, 25-14.
Set two was an all team effort as ten Eagles saw the floor. BC gained a commanding lead with a 5-0 run led by freshman duo Halle Schroder and Samantha Hoppes with a set of kills. The set was won on a junior Jenna Pollock kill, 25-14.
The Skyhawks came out strong tying the match twice early in set three. The Eagles moved past Stonehill on a 12-4 run, freshman Audrey Ross led the charge with four kills.
Pollock led the offense with eight kills, shortly followed by Schroder and Ross contributing seven respectively.
Junior Jane Petrie led the Eagle attack with 17 assists, while adding one service ace and two digs. Senior libero Anna Murphy, Penn, and junior Cornelia Roach each tacked on two service aces. Murphy led the back row with 12 digs, and senior middle blocker Peyton Minyard contributed six blocks, and two kills.
The Eagles return to action tonight at 4 p.m. at home against Merrimack College.
