Trio of Eagles Score in Season Opener Victory Over Maine
August 25, 2023 | Field Hockey
Peyton Hale and Margo Carlin Each Record One Goal and One Assist
ORONO, Maine – The No. 17 Eagles (1-0, 0-0) took down the Maine Black Bears (0-1) to commence the 2023 season this Friday afternoon, taking the contest 3-1. This marks BC's sixth straight victory against Maine, dating back to 2012.
Peyton Hale got the offense rolling in the first period, scorching the back of the net off of an insertion from Margo Carlin. Carlin would later double the Eagles' tally on a one-timer from Eva Kluskens to take a 2-0 lead into the second quarter, deflecting the entry pass into the top-left shelf. A defensive battle throughout the second and third quarters was broken by Mia Garber, converting off of a saved penalty corner attempt with 12:58 left in the final quarter. Maine would find the back of the net with 30 seconds left as Boston College's early momentum carried them to a 3-1 victory.
The Eagles controlled the pace for most of the game, holding the Black Bears to just three shots on goal, with Caroline Kelly saving two.
Boston College will look to finish their opening weekend undefeated against Providence tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
