Eagles Begin 2023 on an Eight Game Road Trip
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College field hockey will begin its 2023 campaign on the road this weekend, on Friday at 1:00 p.m. vs. Maine (0-0), and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. vs. Providence (0-0). After concluding the 2022 season at 8-10 (3-3) and falling to Syracuse in the ACC Tournament, the Eagles will look to kick off their season strong ahead of the ACC/B1G Challenge next weekend.
BC opened at No. 17 in the preseason NFHCA Division One Coaches' Poll and will compete to secure their fifth-straight victory against the Black Bears on Friday, with their win streak against Maine dating back to 2012. The Eagles also look to maintain their winning ways against Providence on Saturday as they have won 12 consecutive matchups dating back to 2010.
Captains Margo Carlin, Kendall Hanlon, and Juliette Hijdra are set to lead Boston College in 2023. Carlin is coming off of a strong 2022 campaign in which she scored seven goals and four assists, ranking second on the team in goals and total points (18) while co-leading the Eagles in assists. Carlin, named a First-Team NFHCA All-American, NFHCA Northeast Region First Team, and First-Team All-ACC in 2022, earned her second straight Preseason All-ACC honors this year.
Both games will take place at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex in Orono, Maine. The Eagles' matchup with the Black Bears will be aired live on ESPN+, with Saturday's competition with the Friars available live on AmericaEast TV.
