Garber, Hale, and Hefting Each Net Goals for BC
ORONO, Maine – The No. 17 Eagles (2-0, 0-0) shutout the Providence Friars (0-1) en route to a 3-0 victory this Saturday afternoon. This marks BC's 13th straight victory against Providence, dating back to 2010.
Simone Hefting broke the ice in the second quarter, scoring her first goal with BC on a penalty corner after the setup from Margo Carlin and Juliette Hijdra. Mia Garber tallied her second goal in two games to double the Eagles' lead heading into the half, scoring on assists from Peyton Hale and Martina Giacchino. Hale would find her way into the scoring column early in the fourth quarter, converting a penalty stroke to provide Boston College with a three-goal cushion they would hold onto until the end of the matchup.
The Eagles dominated possession throughout the contest - holding the Friars without a shot attempt until just under 11:00 left in the fourth quarter, with Peyton Hale blocking the only shot Providence would produce.
Boston College will look to carry the momentum into next weekend, where they will face off against No. 2 Northwestern on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and No. 3 Maryland on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. as part of the ACC/B1G Challenge. Both games will take place in College Park, M.d.
