Preseason Notes, Scrimmage No. 2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — The Eagles ran through their second preseason scrimmage on a sunny Saturday afternoon, playing in full pads at thud tempo on the new turf inside Alumni Stadium.

First Song in Team Flex: Rumors (Gucci Mane feat. Lil Durk)

Offensive Highlights: Emmett Morehead found Joseph Griffin Jr. for a first down on the first play of the day. Taji Johnson picked up two early receptions, both from Morehead. Xavier Coleman had a productive day in the receiving game, including a dazzling back shoulder catch to set up a red zone opportunity. Coleman's big catch set up a rushing TD from Pat Garwo III. Lewis Bond hauled in the first offensive touchdown of the day, bringing in Morehead's pass over the coverage. Ryan O'Keefe made a great catch down the sideline in the red zone from Morehead, who later found Dino tomlin for a beautiful toe-tapping catch in the corner of the end zone. Ismael Zamor made a nice sideline catch from Thomas Castellanos to set up a first down.

Defensive Highlights: Jalen Cheek jumped a sideline route for an interception on the first possession of the day. Soon after, Elijah Jones scored the first touchdown of the day on a pick six, making the house call untouched. Isaiah Farris made a nice jumping PBU in the corner of the end zone to save a touchdown, and later secured an interception in the end zone after Jason Scott broke up a touchdown. Quintavyious Hutchins stopped a pass play in the backfield to set up a punt, and Kam Arnold stuffed a rush attempt from inside the ten to force a field goal attempt.
