Damon Frabotta second in the 400m hurdles, also setting a new BC standard
EUGENE, Ore. -- Sydney Segalla was fifth in the 400-meters at the 2023 United States Track & Field U20 Championships, held at historic Hayward Field.
Segalla's time of 52.58 places her in the pool for the 4x400m relay for the U.S. at the PanAm U20 Games, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, from Aug. 4-6.  She bested her own school record of 53.09, set during Saturday's preliminary round.
On the men's side, Damon Frabotta placed second in the 400-meter hurdles at the U20 Championship.  Frabotta crossed the line in 51.89 seconds, earning him a spot on the U20 national team that will compete at the Pan American U20 Games.  Frabotta's time also set a new program record, besting the previous mark of 51.98 set by Marcus Manson at the 2022 ACC Championship.
Earlier in the senior competition, recent grad Katherine Mitchell competed in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 2:03.22 during the preliminary rounds.
