Boston College finishes season after earning finals berths in Women's and Open Fleet Race Nationals
KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- After earning a third-place finish in the Women's Fleet Race Nationals last week, the Eagles finished off their 2023 season with a 13th-place finish in the Open Fleet Race Finals on Friday afternoon. Boston College booked their trip to the finals round after a ninth-place finish in the Western Semifinal on Wednesday afternoon, earning themselves two more days of competition in the Open Fleet Race National Championship.
With eight top-ten finishes across both divisions on Thursday and Friday, BC finished ahead of Penn, Rhode Island, Navy, Miami, and St. Mary's College of Maryland in the 2023 finals.
The Eagles made a late surge in the standings thanks to the B Division of Colleen O'Brien, Jack Redmond, Elizabeth Redmond, and Jack Plavan, placing in the top ten in each of their last four races. The A Division added to the push with a fourth-place and third-place finish in races seven and eight, pushing the Eagles ahead of Rhode Island and Penn for 13th place of 18 finalist teams.
