BC earns victory at Geiger Trophy and St. Mary's Women's Fleet Race
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College Sailing team continued its strong start to the spring season, earning victories at the Geiger Trophy Team Race and St. Mary's Women's Fleet Race this past weekend. The Eagles have earned three wins from their opening four regattas.
BC opened on the Charles River at the Geiger Trophy, hosted by MIT. Led by skippers Ryan McGauley, Cody Roe, and Tanner Krygsveld, along with crews Damien Bocan, Christian Yanoti, and Kylie Craig, the team opened with a 5-0 record and would go on to finish 11-1 overall to finish in first place. They were just one of two teams to finish the regatta with a winning record.
Next was the St. Mary's Women's Fleet Race, hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland. Led by Caroline Sibilly as skipper, and Kennedy Laureigh and Gabrielle Trinter as crew in the A Division boat, the group finished in first place with 36 points, twice as many as any other team. In B Division, skippered by Kate Joslin and crewed by Lanie Ferrarone and Aiesha Shekhar, the boat claimed second place with 78 points. Boston College's combined point total of 114 was enough to give BC the victory.
Boston College is back next weekend with four team race regattas, including the first hosted event of the spring season on Sunday, March 22.
