Eagles Win Seahawk Team Race at SMC of Maryland

Finished in the top five of all four regattas this weekend
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College attacked a busy weekend of racing, competing in four regattas. The Eagles earned a victory in the Seahawk Team Race and earned top-five finishes in the Roger Williams Team Race, the Friis Trophy, and the Boston College Team Race.

BC opened with the Roger Williams Team Race, where skippers Ian Hopkins Guerra, James O'Gwen, and Tor Svendsen, alongside crew Kylie Craig, Kennedy Laureigh, and Madeline Torrey, finished second place with an 8-2 record. The team logged a 4-1 record in each round, falling to hosts and eventual champions, Roger Williams, on both occasions.

Next was the Seahawk Team Race, hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland, where the Eagles took top honors with a 14-1 record. Ryan McGauley, Alex Lech, Cody Roe, and Matthew Commons served as skippers, while Emily Marlas, Paige Roby, Aiesha Shekhar, and Sydney Lombard competed as crew. BC went undefeated in the opening two rounds, holding off Navy in the third and final round to win the regatta, its fourth this season.

In the Friis Trophy, hosted by Harvard, the Eagles took fourth place with an 11-8 record. Skippers Jack Redmond, Peter Joslin, Tanner Krygsveld, and Peter Busch, and crew Christian Yanoti, Brooke Bergendahl, Caroline Sibilly, and Lanie Ferrarone participated in the team race.

The last regatta of the weekend was a team race hosted by Boston College, where Brady Kennedy, Aidan Cunningham, and Griffin Gigliotti served as skippers, and Abbie Catalano, Lauren Leonard, and Ainsley West competed as crew. The group finished fourth place out of six competing teams, logging a 5-5 record.

Next week, the Eagles compete in three team races, starting with the Marchiando Team Race at MIT, as well as the Callahan Trophy at the Coast Guard and the Boston College Team Race II.
