BC's record holder in the indoor & outdoor 800m places ninth at NCAA Championship

AUSTIN, Texas -- Katherine Mitchell finished ninth in the 800m final at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship tonight. She crossed the line in 2:05.66.

Mitchell closed out her storied Boston College career by achieving All-American status for the third time. She was also All-American at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor and 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships at 800m.

She advanced to tonight's 800m final by virtue of placing second in her semifinal heat on Thursday, running 2:02.18. In doing so, Mitchell became only the second Boston College athlete to advance to the 800m final at the NCAA Championship, joining Caroline King in 2012.

The 2023 ACC champion at 800m both indoor and outdoor, Mitchell set new BC records in each victory, clocking 2:03.00 indoors and 2:01.73 outdoors, as well as BC's outdoor 1,500m standard (4:14.85).
