Eagles Take on UConn and Holy Cross for Irving-Christensen Cup

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College rowing team will look to seize the Irving-Christensen Cup for a fifth-consecutive year when they hit the water against UConn and Holy Cross this Thursday in Coventry, Conn.
LAST TIME OUT
The Eagles were able to seize victory in two-of-four events in an impromptu matchup against URI and UMass Amherst this Friday morning.
BC kicked off the action with a strong victory in the 3V8 (7:06.7) - besting UMass by 5.55 seconds and URI by 13.1 seconds.
URI would answer by winning the tightly-contested 1V8 and 2V8 races. Both events saw all three programs finish within 3.83 seconds in the 1V8 and 2.61 seconds in the 2V8.
The Eagles would finish the day on a high note by claiming first place in the V4 race with a time of 7:25.08.
LAST YEAR'S MATCHUP
The first varsity eight secured a win over the visiting crews from UConn and Holy Cross. In the second race, the Eagles' 2V8 won by over 30 seconds. The V4 and 2V4 took first and second in their heat, before the 3V8 and 4V8 did the same in the final race of the morning.
This marked the fourth consecutive meeting between these three schools that saw BC sweep all the races and the 1V8 keep the Irving-Christensen Cup.
