April 28, 2023 | Lacrosse
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A defensive masterpiece led Boston College to a 9-4 win over No. 5 seed Notre Dame in the ACC Semifinals on Friday afternoon at American Legion Memorial Stadium.Â
The Eagles advance to a fourth ACC title game in five tournaments and will face North Carolina on Sunday in a rematch of last season's ACC title game on Sunday at 12 p.m.Â
Boston College's stifling defense held the nation's fifth-highest scoring offense in the nation to a season low in goals, while it's tied for the second-fewest goals in an ACC Tournament game.Â
Shea Dolce turned in the best performance of her young career, stopping 11 shots for a career-high .733 save percentage when facing at least 25 shots. The freshman also added five groundballs. It was a stellar battle in the cage, as the two goalkeepers combined for a .617 save percentage with a combined 13 goals allowed.Â
Hunter Roman and Courtney Weeks led the team with a pair of caused turnovers. Andrea Reynolds led BC in draw controls with four.Â
The dynamic duo of Jenn Medjid and Belle Smith led the Eagles to three straight goals after ND scored first in the opening period, leading to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first.Â
ND cut the lead down to one goal in the second, but Kayla Martello found the back of the net followed by a Courtney Weeks go with less than 30 seconds to go in the half to give BC a 5-2 edge at the half.Â
A 4-0 run in the second half capped off by back-to-back goals from Cassidy Weeks in the fourth iced the game, giving BC 10 straight victories heading into Sunday's final.Â
Medjid led the way with three goals for her eighth consecutive hat trick and 15th of the season. Cassidy Weeks totaled three points with two scores and a helper, while Martello also netted two goals.Â
