Seven Eagles Land on All-ACC Teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. - A total of seven players for Boston College women's lacrosse were named to the 2023 All-ACC Teams on Tuesday, as voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.
Five Eagles in Jenn Medjid, Belle Smith, Mckenna Davis, Cassidy Weeks and Sydney Scales were named all-first team, while Melanie Welch made the second team. Shea Dolce is the fifth freshman in three seasons to land on the all-freshman squad. The five all-first team selections for Boston College led the ACC, while the six All-ACC honorees tied with Syracuse and Notre Dame.Â
Jenn Medjid | Attack | Graduate Student | First Team
- First-Team All-ACC for the second straight season and her third all-conference selection.
- Leads the Eagles with 64 goals and 83 points.
- Is first in the ACC and third in the nation in goals, while she is second in the league and fifth in the country in points.Â
- Fifth among active career leaders in goals (233) and points (308).
- Is two points away from moving into second all-time in school history in points.
- Has scored at least five goals in seven games.Â
- Was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season.Â
- Thirty-six of her goals have come in ACC play.Â
- Is one of the top-25 finalists for the 2023 Tewaaraton Award.Â
Belle Smith | Midfielder | Junior | First Team
- First-Team All-ACC for the third straight season.
- Third on the team in goals (39), second in assists (25), second in ground balls (26), third in caused turnovers (11), and fourth in draw controls (23).Â
- Only player in the ACC with at least 35 goals, 25 assists, 25 ground balls, 20 draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers.
- Has 11 games with at least four points.Â
- Is seventh in conference action in points.
- Was named one of the top-25 finalists for the 2023 Tewaaraton Award.
Cassidy Weeks | Attack | Graduate Student | First Team
- First All-ACC honor of her career.Â
- Fourth on the team with 24 along with seven assists for 31 points.Â
- Third on the team with a career-high 26 draw controls.Â
- Scored the game-winning goal against then-No. 8 Notre Dame in a road victory.Â
- Scored 16 of her goals in ACC action, including seven in the last three league contests.Â
- Is averaging 3.25 points over the last four games.Â
Mckenna Davis | Attacker | Sophomore | First TeamÂ
- Her second All-ACC honor and her first all-conference award.Â
- Leads the team with 49 assists, is second on points (70), and fifth in goals with 21.Â
- Is second in the league in assists and third in the country, while she is sixth in the conference in points and 16th in the nation.Â
- Has scored at least three points in 13 games, including at least five in eight games.Â
- Her 49 assists are the second most in a single season in program history.Â
- Dished out a career-high eight assists against Pitt, which is the second-highest number of assists in a single game in program history.Â
- Leads the ACC in assists in conference action.Â
Sydney Scales | Defense | Junior | First TeamÂ
- Second straight First-Team All-ACC honor.Â
- Leads the Eagles with a career-high 28 caused turnovers and is first with 33 ground balls.Â
- Is third in the league in caused turnovers and tied for fourth in ground balls.Â
- Has nine games with multiple caused turnovers, including a career high four in two games against UMass and Brown.
Melanie Welch | Defense | Graduate Student | Second TeamÂ
- Earns an All-ACC selection for the first time in her career.Â
- Named team captain, while starting in all 16 contests.Â
- Fifth on the team with eight caused turnovers along with 11 ground balls.Â
- Recorded two ground balls against then-No. 18 USC, No. 24 Clemson and Virginia Tech.Â
- Has a caused turnover in five out of the last seven games.Â
Shea Dolce | Goalkeeper | Freshman | All-Freshman Team
- Two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Week and IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week.Â
- Leads all freshmen in the country in goals against average (9.02) and save percentage (.471).Â
- Is fifth in the ACC in goals against average and save percentage, while she is eighth in saves.Â
- Has a 9-2 mark between the posts going into the ACC Tournament.Â
- Stopped a career-high 13 shots in a road win versus Notre Dame.Â
- Made 12 saves in the win against then-No. 1 Syracuse.Â
The Eagles head into the quarterfinal round with a seven-game win streak and as the top seed after capturing the ACC regular season title. BC will face No. 9 seed Duke at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
