Dolce Named ACC DPOTW, Weeks Earns IWLCA OPOTW Award
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A pair of Eagles for Boston College lacrosse garnered weekly awards this afternoon. Shea Dolce was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week and Cassidy Weeks earned IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week honors.Â
It's the first weekly award for both Eagles, while it's the fifth time this season a BC player has been recognized for their efforts.Â
Dolce put forth the best performance of her young career with a career-high 13 saves and a .542 save percentage in the 12-11 win over Notre Dame. The Darien, Conn. native made nine of her saves in the first half and later made a pivotal stop with 1:08 left that kept the game tied before BC scored the game-winning goal with 12 seconds remaining.Â
The 13 stops by Dolce is the most for a BC player since 2020, while she is second in the ACC in goals against average (7.70) and fourth in save percentage at .500.
If she qualified, she would lead all freshmen in the country in GAA and save percentage.Â
Weeks totaled two goals, an assist, three points, a season-high three ground balls and three caused turnovers and three draw controls. She highlighted her afternoon with the game-winning goal on an assist from her sister, Courtney, with 12 seconds left in the contest to earn the 12-11 triumph.Â
It's the second-game winning goal in the last 10 months for Weeks, who delivered the game winner in last season's National Semifinal against Maryland.Â
Weeks is fourth on the team with 17 goals, with 11 coming in ACC play.Â
The Eagles return to action today against Boston University at 4 p.m. in the Battle of Commonwealth Ave.Â
