
Eagles Win Eighth in a Row With Sweep of Kennesaw

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Boston College baseball team lifted its win streak to eight games with a 5-1 win over Kennesaw State at Stillwell Baseball Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles moved to 8-1, their best start since 2016, with the sweep and the Owls fell to 5-5.

BC's eight-game win streak is the longest since the 2016 Eagles started the year 8-0.

Junior left fielder Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.) homered twice in the game for Boston College. Tied 1-1 in the seventh, he drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored from third with the game-winning run on a sacrifice-fly to right by senior shortstop Vince Cimini (Scranton, Pa.).

Freshman right-hander Bobby Chicoine (Armonk, N.Y.) struck out five batters in a five-inning start. KSU got one run against him, a game-tying home run in the fifth by center fielder Jackson Chirello. Chicoine gave up just three hits and did not issue a walk. Sophomore RHP Eric Schroeder (Ridgewood, N.J.) got the win with four-scoreless innings of relief. Schroeder (2-0) struck out three and gave up three hits.

Cimini finished the game 2-for-3 out of the eight-hole, while nine-hole hitting center fielder Barry Walsh (Sterling, Mass.) added a 3-for-4 game with a RBI.

Righty Braden Osbolt turned in a six-inning start in the no-decision for the Owls. He struck out five without a walk, allowed one run on four hits, including Leary's first home run. Lefty Tyler Franks (0-1) took the loss with three runs charged to him in one-third of an inning.
