Kim Captures Georgia State Invitational

Sophomore outlasts the field for first collegiate victory; Eagles place fifth as a team
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Stephany Kim captured her first collegiate tournament victory, earning medalist honors at the Georgia State Invitational. Kim finished 2-under for the 54-hole tournament, carding even-par scores of 72 in the first and third rounds to post a total score of 214. She outlasted four other golfers in the field to win by one stroke.
Kim played the par 3 and par 5 holes at even par, but ranked third (3.93 avg, -2) behind teammate Cynthia Zhang (3.87 avg, -4) in par 4 scoring.
As a team, Boston College placed fifth overall, with a score of 885 (302-292-291). Lipscomb took home the team crown (867). Three strokes separated third and fifth place.
Zhang tied for sixth place, firing an even-par 216. After opening the tournament with scores of 74 and 73, Zhang was 3-under during Tuesday's final round. Bianca Sol Cruz tied for 32nd place, also seeing her best round come during Tuesday's final 18 holes of competition - a 1-over 73.
Canice Screene tied for 40th place, while Ananya Barthakur tied for 63rd place.
The Eagles will compete next at the 2023 ACC Championship from April 13-16 at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
