CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Boston College baseball team secured a 3-0 shutout of Canisius at Shipyard Park on Saturday for its fourth consecutive win. The Eagles improved to 4-1, while the game was the Golden Griffins' season opener.
Â
Graduate right-hander Chris Flynn (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Canisius RHP Matt Duffy were locked in a pitcher's dual into the fifth before the Griffs went to the bullpen. BC put two aboard in the first and second and then loaded the bases in the third, but to no avail.
Â
The Eagles took charge in the sixth with a leadoff home run to center by junior left fielder Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.). Leading 2-0, Flynn took the mound for the bottom of the sixth and finished the frame with a called strike three to strand a runner aboard in his final inning of work.

For the day, Flynn (2-0) got the win in six-scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts. He allowed three hits and walked just one. Duffy went 4.1 innings in the no-decision. He struck out seven, while surrendering three hits and three walks.
