Baseball Shut Out in Season Opener

MALIBU, Calif. – Boston College baseball was shut out in its season opener at Pepperdine, 9-0, at Eddy D. Field Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Graduate right-hander Henry Leake (Burbank, Calif.) got the ball on opening day for the Eagles and struck out eight batters in five innings, but the Waves got to him for four runs on five hits in the fourth. Leake (0-1) was charged for five runs on eight hits and one walk.
Lefty Shane Telfer (1-0) turned in six-shutout innings to get the win. He struck out four, walked two and allowed two runs.
Catcher Quintt Landis doubled Pepperdine's 2-0 lead with a two-run double in the fourth. Center fielder Connor Bradshaw capped a 3-for-4 day with solo home run in the eighth. Second baseman Ryan Johnson added a 3-for-3 effort to go with a walk, run and RBI.
