
Eagles Roll Past UMass

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball rolled past UMass in a 95-57 victory on Wednesday evening in Conte Forum.Â
The Eagles win back-to-back games for the first time this season, improving to 5-5 on the season. UMass falls to 1-9.Â
It was a balanced effort offensively, where five players scored in double figures and nine of 10 found the scoring column. BC fired in a season-high 95 points on 55.9 percent shooting and hit nine 3-pointers - also a season best.Â
Teya Sidberry tied a personal best with 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting and three trifectas. She also led the way with seven boards and netted three steals.Â
Andrea Daley scored 17 points, while T'yana Todd tied a season-best with 17 and hit all five free throws. Todd shot 5-of-8 from the field, while canning a pair of 3-pointers. Dontavia Waggoner totaled 15 points on five field goals, grabbed six boards and recorded a team-best four steals.Â
JoJo Lacey scored 11 off the bench, leading the bench that scored 24 points. Kaylah Ivey was up to her usual ways, handing out a game-high 10 assists to just one turnover.Â
The Eagles jumped out to a 20-9 lead in the first 5:35 of the contest after starting the game 8-of-9 from the floor. Todd and Daley led the charge during the run, scoring 14 straight points. The pair combined to shoot 6-of-8 from the floor and 16 points en route to a 24-16 lead going into the second period.Â
Boston College stretched the lead in the second quarter to as much as 13 at the end of the half after a  Lacey trifecta, giving BC a 41-28 advantage. The defense held UMass to 35.3 shooting from the field in the period.Â
It was all BC in the third quarter, as the Eagles hit their first five shots, leading to a 10-2 run and a commanding lead. The offense at one point hit 15 of their 20 shot attempts going back to the second quarter.Â
BC ran away with the contest for its sixth straight win in the series. The defense forced UMass into 21 turnovers for 26 points, and totaled 42 points in the paint.Â
The Eagles continue their homestand on Sunday against Siena at 12 p.m. in Conte Forum on ACCNX.
