Eight Eagles Named to U.S. World Junior Preliminary Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A total of eight current and future Boston College men's hockey players have been named to the preliminary roster for the U.S. National Junior Team ahead of the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Forwards Cutter Gauthier, Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault and Will Smith, defensemen Drew Fortescue and Aram Minnetian, goaltender Jacob Fowler, and incoming forward James Hagens will compete for a spot on the final U.S. roster.
Team USA will gather for a training camp at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan from Dec. 14-16. The final 25-man roster will represent the United States in the World Junior Championship from Dec. 26, 2023 – Jan. 5, 2024 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Perreault (4-19-23), Smith (7-15-22), Gauthier (12-8-20) and Leonard (10-7-17) are the top four scorers for the second-ranked Eagles this season. Fortescue (3-0-3) and Minnetian (1-3-4) have skated in all 16 games on the blue line, combining for a plus-9 rating.
Fowler has won back-to-back Hockey East Goaltender of the Month Awards to begin his career and is tied for the NCAA lead in winning percentage (.781). He ranks second in the league and seventh nationally with a .929 save percentage.
Hagens is currently skating for the U.S. National Under-18 Team with a scoring line of 11-23-34 in 20 games with a plus-20 rating.
Gauthier had a 4-6-10 line in seven games as a member of last year's bronze-medal squad at the 2023 World Junior Championship in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He later posted a 7-2-9 line in 10 games for the U.S. at the 2023 IIHF Men's World Championship in Finland and Latvia.
NHL Network is the exclusive home of the IIHF World Junior Championship in the United States and will air every Team USA game in addition to many others, including all quarterfinal, semifinal and medal games.
