
Fencing Competes at Coach Nikki Franke Classic

The Eagles prepare for 2023-24 season by competing against top teams in the country
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Boston College Fencing team traveled to Philadelphia this past weekend to compete at the 2023 Coach Nikki Franke Classic, hosted by Temple University.Â
The Coach Nikki Franke Classic, formerly known as the Temple Open, is a preseason tournament where many of the top teams compete to prepare for the start of their seasons. The tournament started off Saturday morning with three events on the Women's side; Epee, Foil, Sabre. These three events were followed by a consolation for each event. The tournament continued on Sunday morning with Men's Epee, Foil, and Sabre. The Men also had a consolation for each event.Â

- Freshman Junyao Lu finished tied for third in Women's Epee.
- Sophomore Greta DeBack placed in the top-eight in Women's Foil.
- Freshman Ryan Wong and Senior Inigo Rivera placed top-eight in Men's Sabre.
- Boston College tied their medal count from last year at this tournament, while also having more fencers in the top-16 than any other year.
