
BC Suffers Heartbreaking Loss at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY. - Boston College women's basketball fell in a heartbreaking 83-81 setback on Thursday evening in the Clive M. Beck Center. The Eagles fall to 3-5 on the season, with the Wildcats improving to 3-5.Â
A season-high five players scored in double figures, with T'yana Todd and Dontavia Waggoner netting a team-best 16 points. Todd scored 10 of her points in the final frame, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor and added four assists.Â
JoJo Lacey stepped up off the bench with a season-best 15 points with three trifectas, while her game-best nine boards was a season-high. Andrea Daley totaled 14 points, and Teya Sidberry poured in 14 points and seven boards.Â
Kaylah Ivey turned in another solid performance, tying a personal-best with nine assists on top of four points.Â
It was a nail-biting contest that featured 11 ties, 12 lead changes and neither team held a lead by more than six.Â
A Todd 3-pointer with the Eagles trailing 81-77 sliced the gap to one with 1:50 left in the game. After a stop on the other end, BC went 1-of-2 at the line to tie up the contest with 10 seconds left. An Eniya Russell layup gave the Wildcats the lead. BC had a chance to tie but wouldn't get the shot off.Â
Boston College's offense came out blistering as it shot 60 percent from the field and hit both of their 3-point attempts. Lacey came off the bench to hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give BC a 21-17 lead going into the second frame.Â
It was a back-and-forth affair in the second quarter, where neither team held a lead by more than five. Sidberry's layup gave the Eagles a 36-31 advantage with just over two minutes left in the first half. After Sidberry's third straight field goal kept the Eagles in front, UK scored the final five points to go into the break with a 41-40 lead.Â
Kentucky started the third period hitting four of its first six shots to claim a 50-46 edge. However, Daley scored the Eagles' next eight points including a personal 6-0 run to push BC back in front. An Ivey trey later in the frame pushed the lead to 61-55. The Eagles went into the fourth with a 64-61 lead.Â
The Eagles will spend the rest of their non-conference schedule at home with five games in December, beginning with UMass Lowell on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Conte Forum.Â
