
BC Falls to Wisconsin in Tip-Off Finale

FORT MYERS, Fla.  - Boston College suffered an 82-72 setback to Wisconsin in the Elevance Fort Myers Tip-Off consolation game on Saturday evening.Â
The Eagles fall to 3-4 on the season, while the Badgers improve to 4-2.Â
Andrea Daley led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting and seven rebounds, while she was one of four Eagles in double figures.Â
The Florida native was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 22.5 points on 54.8 percent shooting and 8.0 rebounds through both contests.Â
Teya Sidberry scored 15 with seven off the glass. Dontavia Waggoner netted 12 points with four boards and tied a career high with six steals. T'yana Todd rounded out the leading scorers with 10. Kaylah Ivey played a solid game at the point with a career-best nine assists to just one turnover in 33 minutes. Ivey also recorded five points, four boards, and three steals.Â
Despite committing eight turnovers and shooting 43 percent from the field in the first quarter, the Eagles stayed on the Badgers' tail trailing by only four, 19-15. Wisconsin held a six-point lead before Todd's jumper at the end of the frame sliced the gap.Â
Trailing 24-17 in the second quarter, the BC offense heated up hitting its next seven shots to put together a 15-4 surge. Four different players scored during the run to capture a 32-28 advantage that was capped off by an and-1 from Daley.
After Wisconsin tied up the contest with four quick points, a layup from Waggoner and a free throw by Daley gave BC a 35-32 lead going into the break.Â
Daley started a 6-0 spurt that gave the Eagles a 43-37 advantage for their largest lead of the contest. The rest of the third period was closely contested as neither team held a lead by more than four points over the final 6:34, with BC holding a 56-54 edge going into the fourth.Â
The final frame proved to be the difference, as Wisconsin slowly pulled away for the win. The Badgers hit nearly 70 percent of their shots and a trio of 3-pointers. Wisconsin hit seven of its 10 trifectas in the second half.Â
BC outscored its foe 32-24 in the paint and posted 23 points off turnovers off 19 miscues.Â
The Eagles return to action on Thursday against Kentucky at 7 p.m. in Lexington on SECN+ in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge.Â

- It's the first time Daley has scored 20 points in back-to-back games.
