
Eagles Run Past Providence in Road Matchup

PROVIDENCE, RI - Boston College women's basketball ran past Providence with a 71-56 win on Sunday afternoon inside Alumni Hall.Â
The Eagles pick up their first road win of the season to improve to 2-2, while the Friars fall to 2-2.Â
Teya Sidberry poured in a career-high 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and grabbed a season-best nine rebounds. The sophomore forward registered a pair of steals and one block.Â
T'yana Todd netted all 13 of her points in the second half, hitting five of her seven attempts and three trifectas. She also dished out four assists and totaled two swipes. Andrea Daley rounded out the leading scorers with 10 points and a personal-high four steals.Â
Seven players collected multiple steals en route to a game-record 22 steals. Kayla Lezama was a game-best plus-20 with six points, a career-high four steals and two assists. Dontavia Waggoner posted four steals, while JoJo Lacey totaled three.Â
The Eagles got off to a hot start in the first quarter, suffocating the Friars into 2-for-9 shooting and nine turnovers. BC made six of its final eight shots, including a layup from Daley and five quick points by Sidberry. The sophomore forward scored nine points in the first frame en route to an 18-6 lead for Boston College.
BC sustained its lead in the second quarter, staying in front of PC by no less than eight points. Nene Ndiaye hit a jumper to push the lead to 10, but the Friars' Emily Archibald made a layup that sliced the lead to single digits, 28-20.Â
Providence made things interesting in the third quarter as it cut the lead to one possession early in the frame, 28-25. However, the Eagles responded with a 6-0 spurt capped off by a Daley layup to stretch the lead to nine, 34-25.Â
BC went into the fourth with a 50-38 edge thanks in large part to a scoring burst by Todd, who scored 11 points over the final 7:52 of the period on 4-of-5 shooting and a trio of 3-pointers, including one at the end of the third.Â
The Eagles ran away with the contest in the fourth, as they grew their lead to as much as 19 early in the final period. BC took advantage of 27 turnovers for 31 points and held a 16-4 edge in fast break points.Â
The Eagles will head to Fort Myers for the Fort Myers Tip-Off, where they will face Marquette on Friday at 4:30 p.m. before facing either Wisconsin or Arkansas on Saturday.
