
Zackery's Career-Best 21 Points Propel BC past The Citadel

Junior guard leads five Eagles in double figures on the night
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Jaeden Zackery poured in career-high 21 points, leading five Eagles in double-figures as Boston College downed The Citadel, 75-71, on Friday night.
Zackery connected on 8-of-12 shots from the floor (1-3 3FG) and 4-of-5 from the outside to go along with four assists and four steals.
BC led 13-7 six minutes into the game before the Bulldogs used a 10-4 push to tie it up at 17-all with 9:28 remaining in the half. Â A Prince Aligbe bucket with 6:11 left in the period made it a five-point advantage for the Eagles - 26-21. Â But 8-2 run for The Citadel gave it the lead for the first time and the run extended to 17-7 as the home squad took a 38-33 lead with 1:13 left in the half. Â Quinten Post - who was limited due to foul trouble in the first half - converted a layup at the end of the half, making it, 38-35, in favor of the Bulldogs.
The Citadel would lead by as many as six - 47-41 - with 16:36 left in regulation, before the Eagles found their stride on both ends of the floor. Â Zackery's driving layup with 15:28 to go cut it to two - 47-45. Â But on the next possession, Post was called for a foul 27 feet from the basket and an unsportsmanlike technical foul, putting him on the bench with four personals.
That is when Devin McGlockton imposed his will, scoring six of the next eight points for BC, cutting it to one - 56-55 - with 10:07 to go. Â Five quick points from Claudell Harris Jr. - a 3-pointer and a steal in the backcourt for a dunk - giving BC the lead for good. Â The Citadel would get as close as one - 69-68 - with 3:26 but couldn't get through.
McGlockton finished with 12 points, four boards, an assist, two steals, and two blocked shots in 35 minutes. Â Hand would add 14 points, four boards, and two steals. Â Harris contributed 12 points, two rebounds, and two steals.
With the win, the Eagles move to 2-0 on the season and return home on Wednesday, Nov. 15 when they host Richmond at 7 p.m.
