Eagles Feast on Orange

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- The Boston College volleyball team defeated Syracuse in three clean sets, by scores of 25-18, 25-14, and 25-18.The Eagles moved to 15-12, and 4-9 in ACC play.
The Eagles battled point for point in the first set; the lead was exchanged 16 times, and tied 13 times. It was Halle Schroder's third kill that knotted the score at 14-14, followed by an ace by Anna Murphy then another Schroder kill that secured the lead for the Eagles 16-14. The Eagles used a 4-0 run to lead 20-15 and never looked back. The Eagles closed set one, 25-18.
BC dominated the second as SU called its first timeout after a solo block and kill by Julia Haggerty. The Eagles then went on a 8-3 run, led by Alayna Crabtree, causing the Orange's last timeout leading 18-7. The set was won 25-14.
Down 6-10 in the third, Boston College took a 12-11 lead near the midway point of the set. However, the Orange tied it up five times before a 5-0 run by the Eagles secured the match. Katrina Jensen finished the set on back-to-back kills, capturing the match 25-18. Jensen finished the night with 10 kills on a .643 hitting percentage.
Jensen led all players with 10 kills, posting 10 in the first and third sets. She hit .643 for the match; adding three blocks.
For the match, setters Sophia Lambros and Jane Petrie collected 18 and 13 assists, respectively. Crabtree picked up a match-high 10 digs.
The Eagles return to action Friday, at NC State for a 7 p.m. match on ACCNX.
