Men's Soccer Continues Home ACC Play Versus Virginia

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -Â The Eagles continue home play as they host Virginia on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Newton Soccer Complex. The game will be available to stream on ACC Network Extra.Â

MONDAY VERSUS SUFFOLK
- Boston College defeated Suffolk 2-0 on Monday night in Newton
- Jonathan Murphy opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he took a missed clearance by the Suffolk defender, and proceeded to take a shot from just outside the top right of the box that deflected off a defender and into the back of the netÂ
- Augustine Boadi extended the lead in the 38th minute by taking a through ball by Diego Ochoa, and finishing a shot from just outside the top left of the box that beat the goalkeeper to the far post
- Ochoa and Sam White led the Eagles in shot attempts with three, while Christian Bejar had two attempts.
- Goalkeeper Brennan Klein's shutout gave him his fifth clean sheet this season… Klein has only allowed one goal at home this season, and improved his home record to 3-1-2.Â
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
- Virginia currently sits with a record of 6-3-2 (2-2 ACC)
- The Cavaliers are coming off a 1-1 tie at home on Tuesday night against No. 19 HofstraÂ
- Freshman Stephen Annor Gyamfi leads the team in goals and points with six goals and twelve points on the seasonÂ
- The Cavaliers have split time in net with senior Holden Brown making seven starts and junior Joey Batrouni making four starts, combing for a record of 6-3-2
- Virginia is coached by George Gelnovatch, who is in his 28th season as the head coach of the Cavaliers
UNDERCLASSMEN IMPACT
- The Eagles' roster consists of 20 combined underclassmen, including 11 freshmen
- The freshmen class has played 36 percent of the combined total minutes so far this season and the sophomores have played 29 percent, totaling 65 percent of the minutes played
